A MESSAGE FROM POTTSIE

Hi All Bashers,
Just to confirm that the next big TVPB event will be the Christmas Fancy Dress ride followed by a Party, Lunch & Disco, to be held on Sunday December 17th from the Starcross Fishing & Cruising Club. What’s it going to cost? ~ Only £10 to BashTax payers and £15 to guests and others – BUT – You must book your place and pay ASAP, and definitely before 10th December latest. You can also pay us by Credit Transfer to ~ Sort Code 20-60-88,  Acc No. 90455377, but if you use this method please email Sticky at dowen0666@gmail.com and confirm.
As is usual practice, the ride will start from the club car park at about 11am, but prior to this, we normally assemble from 10:15 am for pre ride refreshment ,fancy dress viewings & photos. There is no specific fancy dress theme, so anything goes . All you need to do is to be able to ride your bike the 4 miles back to Dawlish in your costume – Hopefully it won’t rain on us!  Sherry, Mince Pies, nibbles and non toxicants, etc will be served en route.  Lunch will be served from 2:15 pm, and it’s a good move to get back to the club bar for pre-lunch beverages at their very low prices, plus wine with your meal will cost under £10 a bottle.
Obviously TVPB, and our Christmas Party in particular, wiil not be the same without our dear friend Jack – especially his songs and Denzil stories, I can hear him now singing “it’s begining to look a lot like Christmas”. With his precious memory in mind, TVPB have contributed £100 to the “Friends of Newton Abbot RFC”, which was his very own charity.
So now, on to a more light hearted note. The Curry night was, once again a success, a Loud, Cheerful, Chaotic gathering of over 50% of all TVPB Bash Tax payers, and plenty to eat for their £5.
Just to remind you that Lord Stretch is offering to make up an order for more Bash Tops (see details below). So if you need the heavier winter top, or would like to change to the pink variety or the non elasticated mountain bike type etc. now is the time to speak to him and get your order in.
Finally I’m pleased to report that we now have 95 registered Bashers in this current year ~ not bad for local cycling group and still very good value at £10 per annum. We do still, however, need more Bashers and particularly younger people so spread the word.

LORD STRETCHS BASH SHIRT BONANZA

As a complete one off and in memory of our great friend Jack and for this one occasion only there will be a new Commemorative BASH shirt which will say “Who’s Ride Is It?” on the front and also read “I Wouldn’t Have Come This Way” on the back.
Design work is in progress and will be available to view on the GearClub website shortly but they will be quite similar to the standard tops. (maybe)
Once again we have negotiated free delivery with GearClub and in this instance only, you can order by emailing me back stating:-
SIZE,
SUMMER or WINTER weight,
FULL or HALF zip,
SHORT or LONG sleeve,
YELLOW or PINK colour,
How you want the wording of your BASH nickname to appear?
I will then advise you the price, account details and how to make payment – which will be needed before the order can be sent off (HOW MUCH? well, they should be in the region of £32 for summer short sleeve and £39 for winter long sleeve tops – (sigh!).
Cut off date is Sunday 12th November and delivery has been promised in time for the Xmas Bash (crossy fingers and deep breaths!).
The size chart on the Gearclub website is accurate however the advice is as before :- IF IN DOUBT GO FOR A SIZE LARGER as there can be NO EXCHANGES and NO REFUNDS.

Thursdays Ride

The Bash this Thursday is from the Artichoke at Christow and will be led by Trucker. The ride will be short and flat so the Newton/Torquay gang are invited to do their own thing and meet back at the pub at 8:45 – 9:00.

Please let Trucker know how many are riding over so that he can let the pub know how many for sausages and chips.

A VERY SAD DAY FOR THE BASH.

Please see below some words from Pottsie.

Tragic, terrible sad news, our much loved Jack passed away early this morning.
We can never be the same without him, he was a wonderful friend, a giant personality, not only to the Bash, but to all who had the privilege to have known him. Truly a unique man, our thoughts must go out to his very “closeknit family”, Mary and his two daughters Amanda & Sharon, their husbands and his four grandchildren.
We are so sorry and bear our grief with you all. May you, and we, all find strength to continue our lives – so much poorer without him.
Tributes and messages of condolance should be sent to :-
The Lawns, Devon House Drive, Bovey Tracey, TQ13 9HD

Bash Naming Ride – Thursday 24th August

Hi Bashers.

Thursday 24th saw a new addition to the ‘Bash Handled Ranks’

Calvin Sandford led a bunch of intrepid Bashers from The Kings Arms in Kingsteignton, up through the lanes an over Ideford Common before dropping down through Chudleigh, Chudleigh Knighton and onto The Cromwell Arms in Bovey Tracey – this is where it all went wrong! Someone – or maybe more than one – must have put a bit of extra effort in and was a little sweaty (and maybe smelly) and as a result the whole group were ejected from the pub – not good for a social cycling club!

In addition to the Main ride there were 3 other rides, the Knitters and Sewwers and 2 B groups – one of which managed to lose  Dinky who ended up at Manaton on her own!!

Eventually everyone found their way back to Kingsteignton – for the usual Banquet laid on by Sid – and the main event i.e. the Naming Ceremony. After a lot of deliberation and head scratching Calvin was named ‘Touch Up’ which is a nod to his day job as a Spray Painter.

Welcome to The Fold Touch Up.

This weeks ride is led by Nitelite from The Lord Nelson, Kingskerswell and will incorporate the annual swim so don’t forget to bring your ‘Budgie Smugglers’!!
